What costs should you expect for wrinkle treatment?

The filling materials themselves have different prices and the time and effort required for application varies with the different preparations.

As the prices depend on the quantity and there are very strong individual differences, a personal consultation is necessary.

Wrinkle treatment – reasons for premature skin ageing

From the age of 25, the skin begins to age. Initially, skin ageing is most visible on the face. This process is accelerated by stress, an unhealthy diet, genetic factors or even diseases, which can lead to premature skin ageing. Since our society places a high value on a youthful and fresh appearance, premature skin ageing is a problem for many.

Therefore, a separate industry has developed for creams and ointments to replace the loss of substance. Where ointments or creams no longer help, wrinkle treatment comes into play.

Our methods for wrinkle treatment

Wrinkle treatment can be carried out with Botox® or fillers such as hyaluronic acid.

Generally, a distinction is made between dynamic and static wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles are the wrinkles around the eyes, mouth or forehead. Static wrinkles, on the other hand, are caused by skin ageing and gravity. Dynamic wrinkles are usually treated with Botox®, static wrinkles with fillers.

Important questions about wrinkle treatment

What should you pay attention to after the wrinkle treatment?

The area should be cooled immediately after the treatment. You can apply make-up to the puncture marks immediately after the treatment. Do not use the solarium or sauna or expose yourself to direct sunlight for a few days.

What is the procedure for wrinkle treatment?

Before the wrinkle treatment we have a detailed consultation about your wishes and what is actually possible.

During the treatment, the chosen substance is injected under the skin with fine needles. Immediately afterwards, the injection sites are cooled to prevent swelling.

Which substances do we use?

We use a variety of substances. Some of our most commonly used materials are:

Hyaluronic acid preparations: These are injected as a gel in various preparation stages. If the injection is to be carried out relatively superficially, a thin gel is used. For a deeper injection, a thick gel is used. The effect of thin preparations lasts for about four to six months. Thick preparations last for about six to twelve months. Intolerances or allergies are very rare with hyaluronic acid, so there is no need for an allergy test.

Collagen preparations: For collagen preparations there is the longest period of experience. Collagen is obtained from a BSE-free bovine serum. The effect lasts for about three to five months. An allergy test should be done before treatment.

Hydroxyapatite preparations: These preparations are particularly suitable for deep applications and have an effective period of about two years.

Polylactic acid preparations: This substance promotes the formation of the body’s own collagen. Therefore, a result is only visible after about four weeks, when the body has formed the collagen. An effect is visible for up to two years. This application is relatively complicated and associated with the risk of lumps or nodules forming.

Botox®: Botox® inhibits muscle contractions and thus leads to a smoothing of the skin. The result is visible for about four to six months.

Beware of synthetic products that are supposed to last “forever”!

We strongly advise against the use of free silicone or preparations with “microspheres” or mixed preparations, because although these particles allow for a long-lasting elimination of wrinkles, as foreign bodies they can cause severe tissue damage. Sometimes suppurations of the particles can occur even after years! The correction of these changes is usually only possible surgically and leaves scars, possibly disfigurements!

When should wrinkle treatment be avoided?

Wrinkle treatment is not possible for every patient. In the following cases you should refrain from it:

  • known hypersensitivity to the substance
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • articular rheumatism
  • heart inflammations
  • acute or chronic infections
  • pregnancy and during breastfeeding
  • Herpes labialis – cold sores
  • Cortisone therapy
  • Medication (e.g. aspirin, Marcumar)

What are the risks of wrinkle treatment?

The risks of wrinkle treatment are relatively low. However, slight swelling or bruising may occur after the treatment. In very rare cases, inflammations at the injection sites are possible. These side effects usually go away on their own after a short time.

Skin abrasion – dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is a treatment method for removing superficial wrinkles on the face with a special diamond cutter. Peeling or laser treatment are much less effective than dermabrasion in this region.

The treatment is usually performed locally or, after application of anaesthetic cream, on an outpatient basis. However, in the case of the present patient, who has already been treated, a short anaesthetic is recommended.

After the superficial layers of skin have been removed, a temporary wound area similar to an abrasion develops, which heals completely within a few days. The initial reddening of the wound also fades a few days after the procedure.

Aftercare

After the skin has been abraded, continuous application of moisturising skin creams is necessary for a few days. In order to avoid pigmentary shifts, intensive UV radiation should be avoided in the first weeks after the treatment and cream with sun protection factor 50 should be applied. The patient should also not pre-tan.
