The method of wrinkle treatment with Botulinum -Botox®

Botulinum -Botox® stops muscle activity for a certain period of time. During the treatment, the Botox® is injected directly into the desired areas of the skin. This relaxes the muscles and the skin appears smoother. The injection is done with very fine needles. The Botox® treatment can be carried out on an outpatient basis and under local anaesthetic.

What do you have to take care of after a Botox® treatment?

After the Botox® treatment you should cool the injection sites sufficiently to avoid bruising, swelling and redness. Massages or rubbing of the treated areas should be avoided for the first few days. You should also avoid extensive sunbathing, sauna or solarium visits for a few days.

How does Botulinum – Botox® work?

Botox® inhibits the transmission of impulses between the nerves. This means that muscle contractions can no longer take place. For a certain period of time, the muscles in the treated area are paralysed and their normal movement is restricted. Existing wrinkles are smoothed out and new wrinkles are prevented from forming.

How long does the effect of Botox® last?

The effect of Botox® lasts for a maximum of six months. After this time, the muscle contractions start again and the wrinkles become visible again. To achieve long-term success, the treatment must be repeated after this time.

Why does the effect of Botox® only set in after a few days?

The effect does not start immediately because the active ingredient must first reach the nerve cells. However, after one to three days you can already see the first results of the Botox® treatment. The full effect can only be seen after about two weeks.

On which parts of the body can Botox® be injected?

Botox® is suitable for the treatment of mimic wrinkles. It is therefore mainly used on the following parts of the body:

How long should I refrain from sports after the Botulinum -Botox® treatment?

After Botulinum -Botox® treatment you should completely refrain from sport for about 24 hours so that the Botulinum -Botox® is not flushed out of the body. It is also possible to slip through sport, which would lead to an unattractive result.

Is a Botulinum -Botox® treatment dangerous?

A Botulinum -Botox® treatment is not dangerous. However, as with all other non-surgical treatments, there are possible side effects. For example, swelling or bruising may occur after the treatment, but this will disappear by itself after a short time. Less common are infections at the injection sites or scars. Very rare risks are swallowing problems, short-term paralysis of the face or dryness of the mouth and eyes.
