Excessive sweating – hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis in Munich and Starnberg with PD Dr. Max Geishauser
Do you suffer from excessive sweating and would like treatment? At PD Dr. Max Geishauser you can get advice on the possibilities and treatment.
What methods are there for treating hyperhidrosis?
Botulinum toxin, also known as Botox, has been used for many years to treat excessive sweating under the armpits because of its simplicity and lack of complications.
It is possible to achieve a significant reduction in sweating or even the complete elimination of sweat production. Mostly under the armpits, but also in other parts of the body.
Surgery with cuirassage of the sweat glands (partial removal of the sweat glands) under the armpit skin can still be an alternative. It reduces sweat production to a tolerable level. Usually – in contrast to botulinum toxin – only one treatment is necessary. With good preparation, this is an operation with relatively few complications – almost always under local anaesthetic.
Cutting out the sweat glands, which was common in the past, sometimes led to considerable wound healing problems and is hardly ever performed any more.
What should be considered before hyperhidrosis treatment?
Treatment should always be preceded by a determination of the distribution and expression of the sweat glands with the ninhydrin test, in which the sweat glands are stained and documented.
